Cultural Teams
​Bridge Team​
Contract bridge is a card game which requires the use of logic, memory, analytical ability, power of judgment and a sound intellect. In contract bridge, you need to cooperate with your partner to strive for an optimal bidding contract and then either achieve it or defeat the opponents' contract. Communication and unspoken consensus between you and your partner are equally important. The special features of our Bridge Team are that we strive for simplicity and have our practice in a comfortable environment.​
​Band Team

Band Team was formed in 2007, it is currently named Sunburn. It shows the passion and enthusiasm that Sunnians uphold. There are performances on various stages each year, such as the Joint-hall Music Performance, Rock-on-Pok, etc. We have demonstrated how Sunburn helps to increase Sunnians’ sense of belonging through making music.
We play songs of different music genres: Rock, Pop, Metal, Jazz and Blues in both English and Chinese. We also hold instrumental interest classes for hall-mates, such as drum class. Band team is a platform for hall-mates to showcase their musical talents and to share their passion for music.

​Choir Team
Joining Suen Chi Sun Hall Choir Team gives you the perfect chance to enjoy and feel music together with other hall-mates. With around 50 Choir members, we make our dreams come true by singing deeply from our hearts. We participate in the Inter-hall Choir Competition every year and perform internally in several Hall functions. All music lovers and passionate singers are welcomed to join the Choir Team; prior experience is inconsequential. Promoting the pleasure of singing is far more important than winning prizes. Sharing great joy in our Choir Team and shining on stage is a precious experience you definitely do not want to miss.
​Drama Team
Our Drama Team was the Champion in Inter-hall Drama Competition 2014 and it comprises almost 70 members. The team is divided into 5 sub-teams; the sound and lighting team, the props and setting team, the image team, the script-writing team and the cast. Each team is just indispensable, like the integral parts of a well-oiled machine. In order to perfect the performance of the cast, we need the collective effort of every team. Joining Drama Team will help you get a deeper understanding of drama and at the same time gives you a chance to interact with more hall-mates. So come and join us! See you in Drama Team!
​Debate Team
A debate is defined as a competition between two teams in which they defend their own stance and persuade judges to believe in their arguments. Our Debate Team participates in the Inter-hall Debate Competition (Cantonese) and organizes friendly debate competitions every year. As a motion is given usually five days before the competition, the preparatory meeting lasts for five consecutive days. Our team welcomes all hall-mates to join, regardless of whether you are an amateur or a veteran in debate. Let’s debate together!
​Dance Team
Suen Chi Sun Hall Dance Team was founded in 2005 by a group of dance enthusiasts. Despite its short history, it has built a great reputation with its outstanding performances in Joint-hall Mass Dance Performance annually. In fact, every year after performing in the Mass Dance Performance, Suen Chi Sun Hall Dance Team receives invitations from organizations both inside and outside HKU to perform in various events. Merely judging from the standard of our performances, others might not know that indeed over 90% of our team members are total beginners. Our philosophy is plain and simple- Practice makes perfect. We believe it is never too late to start dancing as long as one is determined to dedicate efforts consistently, and we are proud to say that we manage to prove ourselves right every year and we believe there will be no exception for years to come.

Sports Teams
Badminton Team
We have a total of around 30 team-mates in Badminton Team including both current hall-mates and freshmen. Our practice is usually held once a week. However, team-mates generally  book the court individually and have friendly matches with players of other halls during their spare time. We made remarkable performances last year as we were the champion of Inter-hall Women's Team Competition. We strive for personal breakthroughs and intimate bonding with team-mates in Badminton Team.
​Basketball Team
Suen Chi Sun Hall Basketball Team grows stronger every year and the improvement is significant. We have built strong bonds between team-mates and hall-mates through similar interests and devotion towards basketball. Passion and brotherhood are the main motivation for our team to strive for the best.
​Hockey Team

"If you're not going all the way, why do you go at all?"
Hockey is a sport similar to soccer. Suen Chi Sun Hall Hockey Team only has a fairly short, 5-years history; but we have a good coach and systematic training. We are sure that we will become stronger as we are playing as a team. All team-mates devote a lot of time and are very passionate towards playing hockey. Hockey has really become an essential part of our daily lives.

Soccer Team
Suen Chi Sun Hall Soccer Team is one of the biggest sports teams in Suen Chi Sun Hall. We may not be the most skillful players in town, but we are proud of our passion and eagerness to deliver our best in all Inter-hall matches. With our devotion and support from hall-mates, we are motivated to practice harder and strive for a better performance.
​Tennis Team
Suen Chi Sun Hall Tennis Team consists of a male and a female team respectively. We aim at providing a platform for hall-mates to learn and play tennis. Inter-hall Tennis Competition is one of our biggest events every year, but we treasure more the pleasure, unity and sportsmanship shared among our team brought by the mutual interest in playing tennis.
​Volleyball Team
Suen Chi Sun Hall Volleyball Team is the only team in which boys and girls play and train together. All of the team members are passionate and energetic. Our belief is simple, ‘try our best with no regrets’. Volleyball emphasizes on the spirit of unity. We are not attempting to find the most skillful players but we expect to have devoted team-mates who play whole-heartedly. We keenly participate in Inter-hall Competitions and have regular practices. We welcome all beginners and experienced players who want to have fun and make friends with other team-mates.
​Athletics Team
In order to provide an encouraging athletic atmosphere and a platform for hall-mates to communicate with others that have a common interest in athletics and running, the athletics team was established in our Hall in 2012. We have regular training once a week and those who want to join the Inter-hall Athletics Meet Competition next year are recommended to join our team for more training and experience sharing sessions.

Newly Established Sports Teams

​Softball Team
Softball, which is derived from baseball, is one of the three new ball games at the University of Hong Kong, softball shares similar rules and regulations with baseball. It includes a catcher, pitcher, batter and baseman. Catcher, as the name suggests, has to catch the ball being pitched. The pitcher similarly is the one who pitches the ball to the batter. The batter will try to hit the ball and run to the bases. The baseman essentially defends the bases and is the one who needs to catch the ball before the batter arrives at the base. All basic softball equipment will be provided by our Hall. Don't hesitate to join us!
​Aqautics Team
In order to provide an encouraging athletic atmosphere and a platform for hall-mates to communicate with others that have a common interest in athletics and running, the athletics team was established in our Hall in 2012. We have regular training once a week and those who want to join the Inter-hall Athletics Meet Competition next year are recommended to join our team for more training and experience sharing sessions.
